In the recent events regarding SOPA, it has come to the communities attention that GoDaddy is a huge supporter. Since the Armory hosts its domains at GoDaddy, and with the recent boycott, I have decided to move my domains away from GoDaddy. More information about the boycott can be found here.

You may expect some downtime while the domains transfer ownership. Sorry for the inconvenience

More information on SOPA. Do yourself a favor and read it.

I though go Daddy drop their support fro SOPA due to the boycott? Or are you still doing for principal?

Anyway, I already contacted my representative over this. Also if anyone wants to contact their representative you can find them here, and to help write your message read this. Alright guys get to it.

Wait, so GoDaddy supports anti-piracy right? Meaning they are on the side of the law? And so you don't like them because of this? I'm confused...

Most companies that don't want their wares stolen are, so yes.

Correct.

Incorrect, Godaddy initially was for SOPA being passed since the current bill is still in congress being debated. This pissed off the customer base that gave a damn so they're now boycotting.

Confused? That's because you're ignorant so I suggest you educate yourself on this matter. Then you'll see why this bill is utter garbage in it's current form. That and I doubt most of your representatives know what they're actually voting for.

Or is it that you all want to keep your pirating undetected? I personally believe that a company has a right to defend their products from thieves of all kinds. But your right, I need to read up on the specifics of the bill.

Gesss... that was a little harsh.
Stroidenfifer question was legit. As soon as Gears posted this, I knew that question was coming.

This thing has snowballed so fast it even made the CBS news. 72 000 domains lost so far.

Anonymous stated their opinion on SOPA. I found it interesting.

I don't necessarily support Anonymous but their 'legion' fights against controversial stuff like this.

Hi All! I'd just like to congratulate SC2Armory, along with the other websites (Reddit most especially), for successfully making the Senator remove the DNS Blocking sh*t from SOPA.

Still we have to be more vigilant! DNS Blocking is just one thing, there's still more in SOPA that can hinder the net!

The bill's going to kill the internet. I don't know the specifics, but basically they're going to stop anybody for posting content from a company without written consent. This means if I want to go start up a stream after SOPA's been passed then I have to get written consent from blizzard. This applies for sites like youtube or reddit as well. It's going to absolutely murder the internet economy. Not only that, but I believe the government is going to track IP addresses which is a huge invasion of privacy.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, regardless I know I'm not too far off.

As I understand it, SOPA is a bill meant to address internet piracy, in the same way you'd address a single roach by bug-bombing your entire house. Currently if a user on Youtube uploads 10 minutes of a copyrighted movie, the user is responsible, and will be forced to take it down, or get banned from Youtube. SOPA would make Youtube itself responsible for that upload. That means Youtube (or any site with user-uploaded content) could be shut down entirely, or sued, or fined, for what their users do on them.

Obviously, Youtube can't be 100% on top of everything people upload on them, so more than likely, sites like Youtube will simply stop existing rather than be constantly shut down and sued. It goes beyond that too, if you upload a picture from the Dark Knight Rises on your Facebook, that could be copyright infringement, and therefore get Facebook in big trouble as well.

The idea behind the bill is to hold sites like Megaupload, which are essentially piracy websites, responsible for TV shows, and movies which users upload onto them. Currently they can't really be punished for for piracy, because it's their anonymous users, not them, uploading the copyrighted materiel. However, because it's seniors writing this bill, they don't really realize that 90% of the internet is user-generated and every funny picture someone posts on a forum from a TV show, could get that forum shut down.

Seriously...
