Yeah, you might consider my claim to immortality to be off the deep end right now, but withhold that judgement until after I've invaded the fanfiction section by siege.

I've been playing Broodwar and writing fanfiction based on it since 2003. I play some starcraft 2, but the ole zerg just aren't what they used to be, so I don't log nearly as many hours with this new iteration as I did with the prior. Call me a whining newbie if you will, but I miss my defilers, devourers and lurkers. If I didn't know better, I'd say hydralisks were stronger back then, too.

Since the death of starcraft.org, I've been actively searching for a new home for my work. Here's hoping I've found one.

Welcome to the armory. It is always good to see a fellow fan fic writer, though you sound much more hard core.

We have plenty of other fanfics here which you can read if interested (including mine). We also have an ongoing RPG that you can join if interested.

Anyways, have fun here. And even though I play terran, I definatly miss the old lurkers and tougher hydralisks.

Oh good, so I'm not the only...special one here. Fear not for me; I've handled a goodly number these 'sparatans' in the past. Even made pretty good friends and did a co-op fic with number 117. The fans went wild.

Spartan...what was your number again? Never send starcraft 2 units to fight an old-school hydralisk. All your hellions are fail to mah scythes.

Glad to meet you Duck, and yes, I'm quite serious about my work. I'm all about getting in good with the standing author community; I'll be sure to swing by the fanfiction section shortly and start dropping some reviews.

Hello. Have a fun time enriching our fanfic section.

Also, EastBridge's "zerg Swarm" is also pretty good although I suspect you're already familiar with the fic (he was also on starcraft.org).

P.S: What exactly happened to starcraft.org?

Yes, I'm familiar with Eastbridge. I was keeping up with his work before the org died. I do hope he continues, I found his work quite enjoyable.

What exactly happened to starcraft.org?

The history of the bygone sc.org is a fruitful, but ultimately tragic story. Back in the day, they were the one and only starcraft fansite endorsed and advertised by Blizzard itself as the Official StarCraft Mapsite. There was so much new content(maps, fics, everything sc) arriving daily that there was a week-long waiting list just to get your content on the recently submitted listings. Bane garnered reviews in the hundreds, and the other guys didn't do too bad either. Everything was active, sunny and happy. Those were really the days.

Then something happened. At the end of December, 2004, The site simply vanished from the web for about half a year. The admins claimed it was a hack attack. By the time it returned, the site's status as Official StarCraft Mapsite had been revoked, and roughly half the user base did not return.

Things still weren't really bad. Activity was down by half, but that still left us with the most active starcraft site around. Things were slowly beginning to improve until it happened again about 8 months later.

They were down for almost a full year this time. The people behind the scenes claimed it was to rework the site to make it more modern and efficient. Why the old site did not remain online while the new one was being created is a total mystery to me. When the doors opened again, we were left with maybe a quarter of the original publicity, and that's being statistically generous.

Guess what? About a year later, it happened again. This was the real kick in the teeth to the loyal community that had remained. The site was down for a full two years, supposedly with the same excuse as the prior downtime. Was not the new system they designed good enough? I suppose not.

The administrators grew aggressive and bitter towards the loyal community that waited and occasionally asked about progress. Those few of us left were forced to stop inquiring when the lead honcho issued an ultimatum: "DO NOT ask us again or we quit."

Surprisingly, the new site actually was quite speedy and innovative with its many custom-designed features. However, when the doors finally opened again, there was nobody waiting outside. The active user base had been whittled down to half a dozen people or so. As time passed, even the olde guard fell silent.

The last chapter submitted by EastBridge was the ONLY activity for a month solid. The ONLY activity. No comments, no reviews, no submissions. Nothing.

On wednesday, August 3rd 2011, the site went down for what I assume is the final time. Two weeks later, the associated sc.org forums, which had miraculously never seen a downtime, went offline, as did the entire ORG network and her sister site, SCLegacy.

I decided to check out this starcraft2.org. It is still there, or at least the forums are(the main site is black and says cPanel). The forums seem pretty desolate over there with the majority of the posts during early summer and only like 2 posts were posted today. I liked the setup of the forum, but the white background was boring.

It's good to see that the Armory is crushing it's foes by sucking in the souls of new members. Pretty soon the urge to leave will be nonexistent and you will live the remainder of your life staring at these forums, drooling and waiting for new posts only to see that you are the last one living. Then you will be forced to post to yourself and live knowing that you were breaking the sacred rule of no double posting to sastify your hunger for Starcraft 2 Armory.

Yeah, I happened to check myself before and after writing that. It only figures that the useless forums would reappear in the 20 minutes it took to write that, after being down for the better half of a month.
