Absolutely love the header removal. The front page design I will have to get used to but it looks fine to me as of this time. Good move Gears. +1

For the community latest? Thats probably correct since that data is cached for a duration.


I remember a while back you made the community latest cached for an amount of time because of the site going down a lot with server problems due to a large amount of traffic, but I have never remembered the community latest showing the latest topics being really old like it does now. For me the community latest would update in ~5 minutes or less. However now the first topics on the community latest are relatively old compared to the actual latest topics. I just don't see the point of a community latest that is a half an hour old (or sometimes older) When there are a fair amount of topics that have been posted in since the "latest" topic.

EDIT- At the time of this post my community latest still show the same topic, so its now closer to an hour older when there are several newer posts.

The cache time may be an hour, probably copy and pasted something wrong

Does the community latest even serve any purpose now? I see it as redundant as it has no place with the removal of the header. =p

I stopped using the community latest for the most part since it has been cached. It just is not the latest as much anymore.

I am changing the cache time to 5 minutes again, it was set to 1 hour (oops).

You can view new posts by using the forum tab in the menu
And the forums shall tremble

Yeah I see it lol.

Question is why not make new posts just there by default? Call me stupid but why not replace community latest with "New Posts"? If new posts is updated more often than the other, why not just replace it?
