I will start out piece by piece and roll out the up/down system first, then decide how feasible/worthwhile the nested replies are.
And the forums shall tremble

Other way around, imo... xP

I also still agree with most of the posts on the first page regarding modding powers, etc. I think we need more CMs.

I have a couple quick comments.

I prefer chronological order for forums, but don't have much experience with nesting so it might be better.

I like the "thumbs up" idea, but how do you prevent it from turning into the facebook "so-and-so likes this" thumbs up, which is worthless because everyone does it to everything, and it loses its value?

Additionally, I had an idea about forums that I would really love to see addressed. When someone starts a thread on a topic, it would be great if there were a flow chart style outline on the side of the page. As someone goes off topic, or suggests something similar to that topic that isn't exactly on the idea of the original post, the flow chart gets a branch in the flow chart. Then people who respond to that comment would add their post to the branch, and so people who want to follow the original thread could just read the linear flow chart posts, and all of the branches (or branches of branches) could be modded, closed, edited independently, and you wouldn't get bogged down in flame wars and trolling on the main linear thread. Its basically a visual representation of the thread, and can give you an idea how on topic it stays as a function of time.

Any suggestions guys? (Also, I realize this post would be a branch on Gear's OP)

Also, please, please, please don't apply the voting system to the fanfic forums.

Seconded. This would kill the fanfic section.

Could you add a switch so that this change doesn't apply to specific threads? Just like some threads don't grant resources?

Yeah I can make it disabled in select forums.

Also, thumbs up/down will bury unwanted posts, which allows the community to moderate at a low level. Super mods now have temp-ban access as well, so we will see more high level moderation happening.
