Although not many people were able to attend last years BlizzCon (2010) to celebrate and try out the new Demon Hunter class, I was curious is to what your feedback was.

Some Q's:
-Does this class fit with the game?
-Would you choose the Demon Hunter over the other classes?
-What do you like/dislike most about the Demon Hunter?
-Is there a specific spell ability that you saw in the video demo that you like?

In Diablo 2 I played the Amazon and I was confident that the last class would be a ranged class. However I wasnt certain because there still was and is no Plate wearer.

- Yes I think this class fits well with the game and how it will play out because from what ive seen there will be more crafting and Diablo 2 didnt really allow for much crafting as the items that you would get were pretty crappy and they took alot of money and effort. Hopefully though Blizzard will make crafting more rewarding and interesting and I think that crafting will work well for the Demon Hunter as He/She uses alot of simple light gear which is reasonably easy to make, e.g Crossbows, maybe could be made from a Rune/Gem/Jewel and 2 clubs. Maybe more creative than that but its just an example.

- Yes, I would definitely choose the Demon Hunter over other classes simply because He/She is significantly more Kick-Ass and is ranged.

-I like that the Demon Hunter is ranged and that He/She is similar to the Amazon and kinda similar to the Assassin. He/She also had the best trailer IMO. I however dislike its similarities to the Asssassin, I hated the Assassin.

- I loved one spell inparticular, the chain that exploded once attached to an enemies head. I thought it was hilarious.

It seems like Blizzard didn't want to use any classes from D2/WoW. Other than the Barbarian, everything is totally new (or at least newly named).

As for the Demon Hunter, I feel sort of indifferent. It looks like an interesting class and I will probably give it a try, but I would of preferred the last character class slot to be filled by more a cleric/paladin type. All well, maybe in the inevitable expansion.

Just to throw in my own opinion, I really enjoy the vibe and dark, Gothic atmosphere that the Demon Hunter has as an individual class. Thinking back to the original Diablo, the whole town of Tristam gave off that haunted, cryptic-medieval vibe which is what makes me thoroughly enjoy the fact that Blizzard decided to put in at least one 'dark' character in Diablo 3; this sort of vibe blends into the game naturally.

Another thing I love about the Demon Hunter is the anti-hero impression she/he gives off. I can't help but think that the Demon Hunter is paying tribute to a Spaghetti Western cowboy, such as Clint Eastwood's ruthless bounty hunter character, "The Man with No Name" from A Few More Dollars and The Good The Bad and The Ugly:

I know that sounds crazy, me comparing an assassin warrior to a cowboy, but think about it. They are both 'Hunters', which is a passion of theirs. They are both good with a gun. And they both have a mysterious past. They also act accordingly on their own self-defined justice, which is to purge evil. Most notably, both these characters play the role of an anti-hero.

-Does this class fit with the game?

Yes. Diablo is a very grim and bloody setting where the forces of good are having to continuously reach higher and farther to keep their footing. This makes classes like the necromancer and the demon hunter extremely appropriate for the game. Not to mention that Blizzard has previously done the anti-hero model extremely well, so this is just playing to their strengths.

-Would you choose the Demon Hunter over the other classes?

I am currently torn between the Wizard (the classic caster arch-type that I usually wind up playing) and the Demon Hunter (because I enjoy playing the anti-hero story and theme).

-What do you like/dislike most about the Demon Hunter?

I don't know enough about the mechanics to intelligently answer this one.

-Is there a specific spell ability that you saw in the video demo that you like?

Not specifically, but I like the fact that the abilities seem to be oriented toward controlling your enemies while setting them up for terrible, terrible damage.

...

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

I like the wild west ****ogy. It fits. I hope the male Demon Hunter gets an equally cool hat and/or coat.

OK answering the questions one by one:

1 - It does fit the game.. Just as Necro/Assassin fitted the game it fits it.. The thing that might not fit isn't the Dark-Gothic theme of the hero (anti-hero), but rather the non-melee abilities at all.. Kinda odd to see an all-range class without any near-combat ablilities beside the "fan of knives" kinda thing..

2 - No.. Wizard all the way for me.. Especially the new Wizard abilities that tend to bend space/time/stats/damage/hit rates - really looking forward to em.. DH is fine, but think it might be a bit too fragile once Monsters close up - not a situation I'd be best at handling IMO..

3 - Like ? - double crossbow theme with the lot of "crouching" while shooting feeling.. Kinda desperados like.. Maybe that's where you Stebo (well since I quote you - YOU) compared it to Clint Eastwood, but it's still much more of a Blade/Underworld kinda Vampire thing IMO..

Dislike ? - the kinda melee no-strenght-at-all (just as said above) IMO.. Maybe knife ability/es or a run/stand on a wall (kinda Prince of Persia half-spidery style but not able to climb up) might be helping in that kinda fashion.. The character as is right now - don't find Grenades/Fan of Knives useful enough to cope once monsters get to close you up on

4 - Bola shot - the thing (chain) that Wraps around the monster's heads and few secs later tend to blow 'em up.. Really cool..

The dislike - the Grenades ability maybe.. Think that some kind of Spikes on the way might work better IMO.. Grenades just don't hit the feeling enough.. Maybe Blizz didn't wanna make similarities to the Assassin but still kinda don't like the Grenades idea.. Not quite sure - Just saying it though..

Yeah I think there is no doubt a lot of themes from Vampire, Gothic Underworld fantasy stories in novels and films. The demon hunter certainly has a lot of inspiration from other worldly movies and stories; this is apart of the reason why I love the lore behind this character.

-Does this class fit with the game?
They were lacking a ranged hero, so they made one.

-Would you choose the Demon Hunter over the other classes?
Wizard=>Demon Hunter=>Monk=>Witch Doctor=>Barbarian

-What do you like/dislike most about the Demon Hunter?
The Demon Hunter never really did it for me. They're selling another scantly clad female...Oh yeah she kicks ass.

-Is there a specific spell ability that you saw in the video demo that you like?
N/A Don't remember much.

My opinion is this... I want Diablo 3 NOW!!!

-Does this class fit with the game?

Ranged anti-hero... I'd say its a good fit, I just hope the art style takes a darker turn... too many vibrant colors in the trailers I've seen lately.

-Would you choose the Demon Hunter over the other classes?

Monk for me, I played Assassin in D2 and Monk is the closest representation to her, even though DH gets the Trap skills now, I'm still liking the Monk's fighting style more.

-What do you like/dislike most about the Demon Hunter?

Never did like ranged classes, just preference.

-Is there a specific spell ability that you saw in the video demo that you like?

Love the trap spells, some are reminiscent of D2 Assassin spells but I really can't wait to get my hands on this game and see what every class is capable of.

[i]-Does this class fit with the game?
Forsaking most magic for technology so I wouldn't say she fits that well(automatic crossbows?) but it does fill a nice niche. Also the DM isn't the only anti hero class the Wizard is probably worse considering they also delve into forbidden magic.

-Would you choose the Demon Hunter over the other classes?
Monk-Barbarian-Demon hunter-wizard-witch doctor

-What do you like/dislike most about the Demon Hunter?
I would of liked her better if it were not for the use of "black magic" because every class is basically drawing something to empower them already.

-Is there a specific spell ability that you saw in the video demo that you like?
The rope-grenade that wraps around the head ability.

I'm noticing a few of you have the Witch Doctor at the bottom of your favorites list to choose from classes. I actually enjoyed playing him in the demo and he has some really sweet moves to choose. ;P

I even had the pleasure of pwning gearvosh in PvP with my WD. So OP to kill an admin.

Chris Metzen had several ideas behind the Demon Hunter in a lore panel at last years BlizzCon. Some of these ideas was that she was recently possessed by a demon. Or she was involved with demons so much that it left a scar to her physical form (i.e. her eyes glowing).

I'm gussing she doesn't have much 'magic' to use, but she may have a few demonic traits or abilities. Overall, I think it's nice to have a character who isn't completely dependent on magic or powers, but more on weapons and gadgets, much like Batman.

I really like the idea of the demon hunter. I mean no lie, its cliche AS HELL. Crazy cliche. But I love cliches. So i like the idea of the demon hunter. Its just so ****ing badass.

The only problem I kind have but its not really a problem, is like; The demon hunter seems like directly against the cause of demons you know? None of the D2 heroes were like specifically against Diablo and his kind. In the case of the demon hunter, they know about demons they are always against demons etc. I dont know to me it doesnt exactly feel earth vs demons, earth literally defending for their own survival which I feel D2 really played on hard, pretty much in every Act.

Its like earth is on the offensive with this class, which maybe is good you know. Its different which can work.

Real talk though, Demon Hunter is bonerific

I think it's preference I never liked the Necro. in D2, Caster/Pet using Heroes don't play well with me. The Witch Doctor looks to fill that same role.

YES! That's why I was all Assassin in D2, that's so weird, I did think of Batman when I played .

Few Things about Necro/WD..

First of all - think that WD is much more Druid-inheritted than Necro.. Druid was played much more pet-based that Necro IMO..

You could play Necro with Curses and Poison Dagger, some high level on Bone Armor (for some survivability) and a LOT of Bone prisons/walls.. Much like the Sentries in SC2..

So it's not a deliberately a Pet-based class as some want to put him on, It's much more like a Curse/Tactic based class IMO.. The thing about Necro was that his strength was based on not being able to get killed easily and could easily weaken and cripple and even confuse masses and life-tap targets despite him not having as destructive powers as the Assassin/Barbarian/Sorceress/Druid or the HP/endurance the Barbarian/Paladin would have.. The best opposite sample in this matter to the Necro is the Assassin --> it kills quick but can easily/fast get killed as well.. Kinda think that this will the DH exactly be..

IMO - the Necro's way of play (the drive/moto of playing Necro) usually was - I'm gonna torture you and you still won't be able to kill me/retaliate easily either.. And battles would end up quite long and none of the sides losing much HP fast rapidly (at least in Boss fights that's how it usually ended up once you managed to get a good level at your survivability (Decripify/LifeTap/BoneArmor/GolemMastery) skills)..

The difference between the WD and the Necro - I guess it has a lot with 2 things: Image and lack of Bone spells - i.e. - survivability on the WD IMO..

Mainly Image --> don't wanna have a 150-ish old Africa-faced Far/Fortune-teller who eventually in some sort of fashion ends up knowing how to hurt people/monsters and all that seeming to be in a B.T.W manner..

If any class was pet-based - it's deffinitely the Druid with the Wolves, Crows, Bears and stuff.. Necro was much more curse-based - much more like the Warlock instead of the Hunter in WoW terms of stuff.. Sure you could get Golem as in the much same fashion that the Warlock Infernals get could, but that's basically it.. You really risk to get easily crushed if you focus your strength on your Pet rather than your curse strength/survivability..

Well imagine having a Melee-class Wow style Hunter class --> it wouldn't get much preferred to be played now would it.. ??

Some Q's:
-Does this class fit with the game?

Certainly, but it has also be made to fit into the game by the game makers who have done their job well. Although as the old saying goes "the devil is in the details". There are touches that they added to the class that hep it fit, not only with the Diablo games but also D3 in particular.

Mostly the feel of how the class show the choice to fight evil over the choose to run and let other fight. They are, or where normal people, only the fact they survived the scaring of an demonic massacre being what makes them them. It is this driving force, often more a act of revenge than anything, that makes them what they are. Although this is also something that make them a bit different than the rest that all had something "greater" driving them I guess.

-Would you choose the Demon Hunter over the other classes?

Perhaps, I can not know until I play them. I have too often found myself drifting to classes I have past considered one I would not like to have an opinion any other way(Although I always like Paladins for some reason). A sit stand I will have a melee class and ranged so this one is competing with the wizard class.

-What do you like/dislike most about the Demon Hunter?

I think I have mostly answered this one, at lest in what I like about it, or my inability to speak on it. I will say that I like the look of the class, the armor in has a good look(no idea what Dino is talking about scantly clad, she is a nun compare to most video game females lol). As for the things I do dislike I guess a few of the abilities do not seem to my tastes.

-Is there a specific spell ability that you saw in the video demo that you like?
Why does everyone like the bolas? It seems like a standard delay ability. Past experience tells me to be careful of this one, and that it would most often not perform as shown.

As the one I like, I think the entangling shot seems to have some interesting uses, and the molten arrows look good.
