I will be implementing a new system this week called friends and enemies. This system is meant to take the place of a like/dislike system. The system will give you access to a friends and enemies list (both separate and private) where you can add/remove users from each list. The following benefits apply to each list:

Friends
- You can view topics your friends have made from within your control panel
- You can mass message everyone in your friends list
- You can see if your friend is online
- Friends will have an icon next to their name

Enemies
- The user cannot send you a message (toggable setting)
- The user cannot add you as a friend
- The users post will be buried so you don't have to read it (you can toggle it open to read it still)

I am trying to think of more benefits that can be applied to these lists, so if you have any ideas, please post them here!

i would prefer to not have anyone not see my enemies list

Friends
- list of them shown so you can see which of your buddies are online
- The user can donate items from the store directly, like a collectible
- Friend messages are green or show you that they are friendly

I don't think blocking messages from enemies should be automatic, because what if you don't like them but they wanna message you to make amends or something like that. Should be something you can toggle regardless if they are on your friend list or not.

Aww, I was hoping it would be more like pokemon, where if one person quotes another (their gazes meet), they instantly are auto logged onto Starcraft and have a bo3 right there to the music of pokemon!!!

In a serious note, tribs ideas are good. I am also unsure of the hiding messages automatically. Maybe have a toggle button for each enemy? IDK, I still want more pokemon on this site ^_^

@kingbob - It will be private.

@trib - Good point, will do that. Also like all of your ideas!

Will this be mutual? By mutual I mean if you want someone to be on your friend list then that user must also confirm to allow it?

How will you know if you are on someone's enemy list and can't be seen by or message them? Will there be some alert telling you about a change in status with other players or way to see whose friend lists and enemy lists you are currently on?

No, you will not know if you are in someones friends or enemies list.

Unless you guys want to accept friend requests; this wont happen for enemies though.

i do have an idea, but it is more like a prevention method.

when people make threads about someone not being their friend, it should be so that it automatically gets them labeled as a flamer/troll, whichever is more appropriate. obviously should apply for the entire system, so no friends or enemies threads are allowed AT ALL.

edit: assuming that the friend list requires confirmation by both members of course.

I'm leaning right now towards 1-way friend requests. This means they don't have to be approved. I don't want to have to deal with the whole "why didn't you accept me" type messages/threads/flaming.

I agree that people should have thicker skin about that stuff. But then again if people dont, we dont want this turning into facebook....

"WTF didnt you accept me??" - "cause I ****ing hate you. get a clue."

Not A good plan. I can see either way working, but I think Gears is right. Accpeting requirement could get ugly.

Also agreed. Thats still missing a part of a conversation. Could get confusing if a bunch of enemies are talking about an interesting topic.

What happens if I 'friend' someone and they 'enemy' me?
