Requesting a sticky for this thread.

Rules:

1.Character creation is not done in this thread - there is now a separate thread for your characters. Force Leaders are expected to keep a tally of maximum and current numbers for the force. Faction Leaders are expected to state their non-canon units' stats with their character.

2. You may not control other players' characters, or any forces under their command, under any circumstances. The only exception to this is where control is voluntarily passed by the character's creator.

3.Alliances may be forged with minor factions and independent commanders at your leisure. An alliance with a major faction should be pushed for by contacting the governing body for the faction in question, which usually means sending a message through the chain of command.

4. I am the Game Master for this RPG. Roland serves as the Game Warden (if he wishes) alongside Destroyer and silent_templar. Between us, we will run campaigns for major factions, decide upon certain story-altering events and make decisions. Please note that there word is final, and the only thing that can override there decisions are mine! We will of course remain fair and neutral in all situations.

5. Characters can be killed off! In that case, the owner of the character is invited to create a new one. Depending on circumstances, any Protoss character may become a Dragoon,Stalker or Immortal (or any such equivalent). When merging into an Archon,Dark Archon or any such equivalent the players must decide on who gets to control the resulting character. Anyone wishing to exit the roleplay may PM me, and I shall then kill off their character. Do note that this time I am granting named characters a certain measure of plot armor, however this does NOT mean they are invincible - if your character is caught alone in a mass of Charybdis Brood units they will not hesitate to eviscerate him or her!

5. All out-of-character posts are to be marked as 'OOC'. This includes things like requesting that your character be killed off, complaining or commentary, but not narration as that is done through the character's eyes. Any returns to in-character narration will be marked 'IC'.
All OOC posts are to be done within the Character creation thread which is here

6. No timescaling is allowed. Each post happens directly after the post before it - you cannot insert months, weeks or even days between your post and the previous.

7. Research is fixed. I am not dealing with researches. No faction may research any additional technologies beyond those in StarCraft and/or StarCraft 2. Major factions' researches are ongoing, painfully slow, and will only be added to at mine and or the GameWardens' discretion.

8. You may not exploit weaknesses unveiled by the creator of the character on abrupt conditions. Your faction/hero must discover this weakness in a logical and acceptable manner. You may NOT say something like, "But i used scanners!" anything like that will be deleted upon notice.

9. Interplanetary attack is not allowed. Meaning that you cannot attack a planet unless you are in that planet's vicinity.

10. Planetary takeover is now dealt with through me directly. If you feel you own another planet, PM me with reasons and I may or may not change the planet's ownership.

11. In large-scale battles, the only actions allowed are those that could viably be performed in a game of StarCraft 2. Thus, Siege Tanks may not be deployed on top of Valkyries, Ghosts may not aim to snipe the pilot out of a Wraith, Guardians and Broodlords may not aim at air units, etc. This is to keep things simple and easy to follow, and allows me to keep a tighter hold on balance!

Note:This rule also includes using weather, space anomalies and or local wild life to your advantage. This includes but is not limited to,creating landslides that bury entire units,Gale force winds that toss enemy fliers about,Jamming your opponent's communications.etc. Stuff like those are not present in standard play. However all those said above may be done at my permission or your Opponent/s simply by PMing me about it depending on the scenario.

12.Action and Energy Points:Each type of Unit in a given battlefield has 30 action points and 250 energy points.Units without energy are given 10 energy points
Each possible command you can give to a group of a specific unit type (I.E Move,Attack,Cast Ability, etc.) costs action points (Casting an ability requires 10 action points along with it's respective energy cost. Abilities such as stimpack cost a default 2 energy points) and energy points. Action points will be fully restored at the next IC: post Energy will be fully recharged after 2 of turns.

Attack:5 action points
Move:5 action points
Cast ability:10 action points
Strafe:8 action points
Overwatch:10 action points

Note:When you set your unit into Overwatch mode. It takes 10 action points. When you set your unit into overwatch mode and order it to cast it's abilities at your opponent's turn at the next post that will cost another 10 action points. (And corresponding energy points) Interplanetary, intersystem and Interquadrant travel is not affected by action points unless combat erupted during travel.(Rule not effect.Appendix A is still in effect )

Appendix A|Rule 12:Summary of actions.Players are required to summarize all there actions in a given post. This is to avoid any potential misunderstandings between players and to make the RP committee's job much easier

13.There will be several instances I will allow the eradication of certain enemies for the sake of plot progression. When fighting major factions you must PM me the event you wish for me to forgo the Action point rule and allow you to simply decimate an enemy force and or base with relative ease. Bear in mind there will be times were I decide which events I will keep the Action point rule and other events where the Opposing force will eliminate you with ease instead. In the case of factions and or units owned by other players you must ask permission from the owner of the opposing force.

14.Players may not simply decimate an opposing force whether or not it is a Minor faction,A Force Commander's army or Independent commander in one post or post a narrative narrating that you defeated them without effort. You may do so if you have the Owner's permission
This is to ensure a thrilling and fair RP for everyone. No one is exempted from this rule.

15.When invading a planet all Invading Players are given one post where they may establish there base by taking out an remote mining outpost within the planet. That post is exempted from rule 14 (and possibly rule 13).The exemption will only last for that post unless stated by the board as otherwise.

However when the player stated that he/she has a defense force in orbit the invading Player/s must first break through the blockade to establish there base.Posts concerning blockade busting will have all rules applied unless allowed by the player controlling the planet.Again PM the players involved to ask for there permission. But if you invade a major resource node which is always heavily defended all rules will apply unless your opponent gives you permission.

16. Travel time must be adhered to at all times. You may of course opt to narrate events that happen during your travel, or indeed delay the journey to perform an action on a planet that could conceivably be on the route you have taken. A map is provided. Force Leaders travelling between two planets in systems owned by their parent faction halve the journey time, rounding up. Journey times are thus:

o Between two planets in the same system: 1 IC post.
o Between two adjacent systems: 5 IC posts.
o Between two non-adjacent systems in the same sector: 15 IC posts.
o Between two non-adjacent systems in adjacent sectors: 20 IC posts.
o Between two systems in non-adjacent sectors: 45 IC posts.

#Appendix A|Rule 16:Reinforcing

To reinforce planets/systems/sectors under your control you or your allies must control the route between the planet/location reinforcing and the planet/location to be reinforced. If your reinforcements are to past through a hostile zone that is between the origin and the destination you must narrate how your forces break through the hostile area towards the destination within the designated travel time as stated in Rule 16.If you fail to successfully breakthrough the hostile area.Your reinforcements will either be defeated in 3 IC posts of the enemy player or you may choose to withdraw instead.

I will provide an example soon.

The Delta Quadrant

Lore:
Within the last year, many things have changed for the inhabitants of the Delta Quadrant, the vast gulf of space that comprises the Icarus,Janus, Gilbrithar, Skagrrak,And Bosporus Sectors. The emergence of the terrifyingly strong Scylla Brood destabilised two years of supremacy for the Moirae Tribe beating them back into the Janus sector, allowing the Empire of Thunder to expand at an alarming rate much to the annoyance of the Moirae tribe. At the same time, activity in the Icarus Sector increased as the United Human Alliance was formed among the shifting tides of power, grabbed their opportunity with both hands and declared almost a large part of the Icarus Sector as their territory. Despite the boon in Terran activity, the Talos Tribe continued their rise to power, ultimately matching the Moirae Tribe in territorial influence, along with surpasing them in technological potency. Meanwhile, the tendrils of the Scylla Brood began to push outwards, their strength becoming apparent and their aggression almost unchecked. However, a far older threat lurked just outside the Quadrant's borders, awaiting its chance for revenge... that threat was Xivoog and its Charybdis Brood, grown strong again on years of hiding and growing. The Charbdis Brood swept in under the Glibrithar sector clashing with the Scylla brood in a heated battle for supremacy and survival
.
The United Human Alliance is a highly tactical, mobile force that put great emphasis on their technological assets. Such is their mastery that their armies are swifter and quicker than the usual configurations, and their reactors are far more efficient, resulting in their prized ability to quickly arrive at the scene, shread there oponnents with suppirior arilitery fire and out maneuver them quickly ending the battle with few casualties on there part.
Leader/s:United Colonies Assembly (NPC/s)

The Empire have learned much from their rise to power, chief amongst which is that minimising losses is an excellent way of winning a war. They have begun to employ stronger tougher units, going so far as to increase their forces' durability in order to become more effective in this role. Thus, their forces are far more resillient and slower-attacking, able to blast in, waste enemy forces before significant losses are sustained.
Leader:The Emperor. (NPC)

The Moirae Tribe have come to favour quick, decisive strikes, and have thus perfected their warrior's weapons systems beyond any other Tribe. The result is a force able to take on a much more larger amount of opponents and cut them down quickly and efficiently.
Leader:Council of 12 (NPC/s)

The Talos Tribe have become defensive as their arrival within the sector was far rockier than that of the Moirae Tribe. Thus, they have developed a faster method of creating there war machines along with creating more sophisticated weapons of war to minimize the loss of life.
Leader:Executor Galro'ssh. (NPC)

Blatant trickery on Xivoog's part saved him from total destruction, though it was forced to build the Charybdis Brood anew. Its perfection of using long sustanined bombardment followed by supperior breeching tactics have allowed the Charybdis brood to emerge once again as one of the dominant factions within the quadrant.
Leader:Cerebrate Xivoog. (NPC)

The Scylla Brood have not changed much from the powerful force that had swept the Gilbrithar sector long ago.Silenus still prefers to confuse the enemy first through disguise and subterfuge rather than through sheer brute force before moving into the kill.Another defining trait and fearsome traid of the Scylla brood is it's ability to quickly recover from attacks as units and buildings previously on the verge of death able to regenerate to full health in such a short time.
Leader:Great Elder Brain Silenus. (NPC)

I shall allow things to settle and grudges to fester, and then the short period of peace will shatter under the hammer of war. Welcome to the Tremors of War, a time of constant and bitter fighting from which there is no relief.

"Thhhhe ffffoolssss!" A shadowy figure growled under its breath, bright green eyes glaring from beneath the figures black cloak. "Thhhhey thhhhink thhhhey are saffffe, thhhhey thhhhink thhhhey have pushhhhed ussss out. Thhhhey were wrong!"

Stepping back, the figure turned to look at the crew that worked in silence. Metallic bodied Myceneans worked quickly and efficiently. A seated Mycenean then stood.

"Attention!" It roared.

"Thhhhank you," the shadowy figure quietly hissed. "I have an announccccement. Our Emperor hassss revealed information about a new enemy thhhhat hassss conquered our planet while we had been obsssserving our religioussss ssssabatical. Our sssspiessss have informed ussss thhhhat our ccccitiessss have not been disssscovered. Thhhhissss enemy callssss itsssselffff thhhhe Zerg and thhhhey have oversssstayed thhhheir welcome!" The figure said.

"What are the orders?" One Mycenean asked.

"We move into possssittttion to attack!" The figure responded.

The bridge erupted in roars of pleased Myceneans. They went to work and relayed the orders to the rest of the fleet. The fleet moved to surround the planet and keep the Zerg on the surface. Entering the atmosphere, the War Frigates unlatched their HAACs to defend them as the fleet prepared for the beginning assault.

"This United Human Alliance, what do we know about them?" questioned Altair.

"From the intel we have gathered, they appear to be a separatist group resisting the rule of the Empire of Thunder," reported a Junior Officer.

"Are they a threat to us?"

"Um, we have no record of them ever attacking a neutral force."

"Hmm...I think we'll set our sights elsewhere for now. Set Attack Fleet Delta's course for the Cepheus System. In the mean time, open a communication link with the nearest UHA base. Request a formal meeting with their higher-ups."

"Ay ay, sir."

Jamal could feel it,Everyone in the base could feel it. Peace never lasted long within the Delta quadrant. The four years of conflict doesn't simply go away and the Zerg don't just sit around doing nothing...No. Something was a foot and most likely that something would trigger another massive ****storm with him and everyone else in it. He decided to walk around the base for a bit and let the cool evening breeze and maybe even grab a drink or too in one of the bars outside Fort Evens. Asacateonus a jungle planet with water covering 1/4 of the planet's surface is a heavily defended UHA colony in the Muari'hari system. Admiral Jamal Meyers of the 50th Assault fleet under General Alonsiyous Cran of Omega squadron is stationed as the planet's primary defense force while he's out fortifying the outlying colonies of the UHA.

Jamal was barely finished with his drink when his commlink beeped. His presence was required immediately. He scowled at the device and returned back to his drinking...After a few minutes the commlink beeped again....

"I swear ensign if you beep me one more ****in-"

"Sir a faction called the Obsidian Rangers are initiating contact.."

"Captain, orders have come through from the Emperor!" A warrior said with a gruff, metallic voice.

"What do thhhhey ssssay?" The captain hissed.

"The Emperor wants all communications on the surface to be cut and wants a bombardment upon the enemy, known as the Zerg. The orders also report that the winter season is almost at hand and the Zerg will be frozen within two dabiars. He orders that the Viper Hawk Squadron should lead the bombardment with all other Hawks following." The warrior said.

"Ffffine, launchhhh the Viperssss immediately!" The captain said, stomping his foot and pounding his hands together. "Jam all communicattttionssss!"

From the bellies of the Forward Battle Group War Frigates, hardened HAACs, Viper class, unlatched and slipped into the darkening skies above Rashalga.

"This is Viper Leader, form up on me and hold tight!" A pilot said.

HAACs zipped to the planets surface and began to form up. Circling around a mountain as they awaited for all HAACs to be ready for the first assault.

With the passing of several minutes, the HAACs, with the Vipers at the lead, went at full speed to attack the Zerg. The Vipers pulled away and sliced their way through dozing Mutalisks and Corrupters, launching missles and cutting through them with ease.

"Stay on me! Stay on me!" The leader roared.

Quickly following the Vipers, the rest of the HAACs ripped their way through the masses of Zerg that protected the Hive Cluster. Lasers and missiles singed the air and rippled with explosions of fire and flesh.

"Break formations and attack at will!" The leader barked.

Viper Leader looked at his gauge and watched as the temperature dropped at a rapid rate, the winter season was approaching. When the assault started, it was 85 degrees, but now is is -35 degrees. The Zerg were getting sluggish with the rapid change in temperature. The flying Zerg strains moved slowly compared to the HAACs that dominated the air. Missiles and lasers caused the sky to be bright with light.

The captain of the War Frigate Atlantin watched and grimmaced. He could feel that the battle just started, it was far from over. He could tell that the Zerg had something they had yet to bring out. It made him nervous. "Bring the ship lower, pound the filthy ground structures to dust!" He growled.

OOC:@KnightSpector:Remember Action and Energy point rules still apply when your attacking an enemy even for lore progression.

Also Im pretty sure that the zerg can withstand temperatures without suffering from bouts of lethargy much lower than that since they can fight in the cold void of space. ;P

IC:
"Yes" a cold menacing telepathic voice was heard through out the quadrant. "I believe it is time..."

The Zerg forces on Ralshalga scattered in surprise at the sudden assault of these new and unidentified intruders long enough for them to do a large amount of damage to one of the main hive clusters.

But that did not last long as the Charybdis brood regrouped, shook out the lethargy from there bones acquired from their year long sleep and rallied for a counter offensive of their own. Devourers and Coruptors backed up by Mutalisk swarms flanked by Overseers and Tridents ascended into the skies and began to rip apart the enemy ships as the legions of ground units started rising from there burrows.

Hydralisks and Amorgalisks fired from underneath the protection of various Dark Swarms put up by Defilers turning various ships into bloody pieces of confetti and metal. Ravengers fired there corrosive glave wurms into the enemy fleet from the relative safety of the Hydralisks and Amorgalisks underneath the Dark Swarms. The battle has been joined
===================================================
"Sir We've picked up enemy activity at Ralshalga, reports say that a unidentified fleet had begun to openly attack Charybdis brood Hive Clusters."

"Did the Charybdis brood respond?"

"Affirmative,Scouts report thousands of Zerg minions emerged from hidden caves and burrows to engage the unknown threat. All other Hive Clusters have begun to increase there production of units."

"So the Charybdis brood awakens..." Admiral Demarcus Crosby scowled. "Helmsman relay orders to the fleet. Establish holding pattern near the unidentified fleet. All ships prepare to move out tighten formations and keep it sharp. I don't want any slip ups. We don't know what we're dealing with so i want everyone alert."

The massive ships of Theta Squadron lurched to life. Slower than normal terran capital ships,The Empire made capital ships featured a much more toughened hull strong enough to resist the most potent of all attacks. Theta squadron had been stationed saturus near the perilous planet of Ralshalga now a confirmed planet in a full fledged infestation under the Charbydis brood. Crosby now sought to ascertain whether or not that the unidentified fleet could be a valuble ally to the Empire...or a far more greater threat than everything else within the quadrant...

OOC:Summery of Charybdis brood actions:

Move in and engage Aerial targets:15 action points
(Deduct from Devourers,Mutalisks,Tridents,Hydralisks,Amorgalisks,Corruptors and Overseers)
Dark Swarm:10 action points (100 energy points)
(Deduct from Defilers)
Overwatch Attack mode:15 action points
(Affects all units)

Note that:I will not employ the use of Strategic resources until I start the first campaign.

Altair sat impatiently in the control room of the Orbital Command base on Cnta. He wondered if sending a fleet out without first gathering further information was not the most prudent decision. He longed to be out there, leading the charge, not stuck in some room issuing orders from afar. Can't start second guessing now; what's done is done.

Finally, the holo-screen came to life. "This is Admiral Meyers of the United Human Alliance 50th Assault Fleet. Why have you contacted us?"

Altair strode up to the Lieutenant he had put in charge of communications. "I've changed my mind, I'll do this myself," he whispered. The Lieutenant was surprised, but what could he do? Altair motioned to a techie, "Open our screen," he whispered.

"Greetings, Admiral Meyers. I am Commander Altair, leader of the Obsidian Rangers. I wish to negotiate a formal treaty that I believe would benefit us both."

OOC:

Fleet in movement: 5 posts left until destination reached.

OOC:I think they'll come around eventually.

IC:Meyers cleared his throat and spoke...

"Ah yes Commander Altair We've been meaning to speak to you and your Obsidian Rangers."

Just then a techie entered the room spoke to Meyers for a moment,The Admiral appeared surprised at first but retained his composure as the techie broke the bad news. Finally he dismissed the tech and turned his attention back towards Altair.

"I'm sorry about that but when the Zerg suddenly appear out off nowhere and begin attacking my bases i tend to get really pissed. So you wish to join sides with us eh? It's a hostile and dangerous quadrant out there,What makes you think we would trust you immediately.."

Just then an important communique arrived from High command itself. Meyers excused himself for a moment, read the file and smiled...

"Well it looks like an opportunity just presented itself. Our base at Plutonis is under attack by the Moirae Tribe. You can prove your worth by successfully defending the outpost,Or you can decline and think of something else to offer to us."

=========================================================
"Unidentified Fleet in range. Admiral"

"Hail them"

Behind the Flagship "The Infamy" a large bulk of Theta Squadron ships poised to strike should the Unidentified fleet prove to be hostile but Crosby hoped it wouldn't come to that. But then again where's the fun in the easy stuff?

OOC: HOLY CRAP!!! I can't believe this thread was made a week ago and I didn't even know about it!!!

Maybe we should wait a few days so that people can see the thread. I think we should wait before any major battles, otherwise we'll have 3 pages worth of posts and new-comers will be very very confused.

For example, even though this thread was made 1 week ago I did not see it until now, and I'm a little confused about what's happening. SO maybe we should wait before taking off and let everyone else who signed up join in.

Spammer, you could PM those who signed up. so that they know that this thread exists.

and I have a few Q's. I read the above help, but am just slightly confused.

1) I am a force Commander, so where exaclty do I spawn? do I choose a planet to originate, or do I originate with a Faction?

2) DO the action points work the same for Force COmmanders?

OOC:Exactly so AVFC. I won't start with the first campaign until at least 4 of those that signed up gets here.

1)Force commanders can choose any of there parent faction's planet to start in. You can choose from a Moirae or Talos tribe controlled planet in any system since you didn't specify which major protoss faction you belong in.

2)Action points work the same for everyone no matter what character type you are.

Altair didn't hesitate. Doing so could be perceived as a sign of weakness. "Tell your boys on Plutonis that reinforcements are on their way. When the battle is over, we can get down to the finer details." Ironically, making a statement with words is the least effective method, Altair recalled from an ancient Earth-born philosopher. Admiral Meyer tipped his hat and the communication was ended.

"Charlie, set the Obsidian Fleet's course for Plutonis in the Lepus system."

"Ay, sir."

OOC: Its pretty hard to determine which planets belong to the major factions so I'll play it safe and choose planet Crysis.

IC: ''Made any lucrative contacts Rear admiral Lombarti?'' I asked Reeves, he gave me that same cold stare every time he failed at what he set out to do.

''I assume that is a no, navigator take us to the next nearest Terran planet this sector is as barren of jobs than Reeves imagination, maybe we can find a contract there.''

''That would be planet Bravo Dega of the UHA.'' ''Alright then guess that's where we're going tell all personel to be on Defcon 5 the UHA hasn't been known for allowing mercenary forces to appear above planetary orbit.... uninvited.

With that said Lombarti try to establish contact with any officials of Planet Dega so we don't get shot at when we arrive.

hey Spammer, does this thread appear on the main forum threads? For some reason, It's not showing up except under new posts. That could be why I never saw it until now. I also searched for it, and it's not showing up there either.

for this reason, I highly suggest that you send PM's to the people, otherwise they won't know.

and does anyone know why that's happening? glitch?

OOC:Destroyer there's a reason why i have the character creation thread sticked.
And Bravo Dega is a system not a planet.

IC:"Sir a fleet of warships identifying itself as the Aegis Mercenary company is holding planetary orbit and is requesting permission to land. "

"I don't know why the hell would they even bother requesting landing clearance every merchant and mercenary outfit is free to enter UHA territory as long as there not working Empire,Moirae or Talos tribe.. are they? Grant them clearance and tell them to report to the Main command center in the city,I have a job for them."

"Yes sir."

OOC:For the record only minor and major factions and whatever character is affiliated to said minor and or major faction is required to request landing clearance to visit a major faction's planet.

Your entering the planet Krae's airspace a major UHA planet with a huge sprawling city and several smaller towns around it. Your docking at Orion the main city featuring the main military stronghold located besides the largest starport within the planet which occupies 1/2 of the huge sprawling city. Think New york meets las vegas.Enjoy your stay.

Executor! I have traveled to the Lepus system as you have commanded. Much conflict is amazing in this small region. It seems that all hell is breaking lose against the small Zerg force on Rashalga. Good riddance to them. I will stay my time here and observe the situation. If there is any escalation, I shall inform you immediately.

End Transmission.

the lone Templar stood alone atop the hill. the green grass fluttered as the night wind howled. Avarri looked upward toward the night sky. Bright flashes of light littered it as the conflict on Rashalga continued.

A lone Zealot ran up hill. "Templar, our scout has reported additional Mycenean Vessels entering Rashalga Airspace, and the UHA on Plutonis are mobilizing."

"they seem to be expecting a war. would it be wise to side in as well?" Avarii replied. "Go and rest. We may all need it before the inevitable encounters ahead."

the Zealot began his march down the hill. and Avarii stood and thought. after several seconds of contemplation she turned around.

"Jahwel! wait!" Avarii called out. "Prepare the ship, we're leaving. tell the commander to make course for Plutonis. I don't think that this conflict can afford wait, I will speak to the UHA commander myself about all this."

-5 move points.
